At the club AGM on Saturday 6th January 2024, the curtain came down on Les Hines’ year as Men’s Captain of Badgemore Park and with it the end of a year of fundraising in support of a charity close to his heart, Action for M.E. Action for ME is a charity that focuses on supporting individuals affected by Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), a debilitating and often misunderstood condition.
At the meeting, Les presented charity representative, Ruth Richardson, with a cheque for £11,560 – an incredible amount of money raised by the members of the club throughout 2023.

As Les’ year came to an end, the baton was handed over to new Men’s Captain for 2024, Melvyn Keen, who announced that the charity he is supporting this year will be CUREUsher, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Usher syndrome, a rare genetic disorder causing hearing and vision loss.
